The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at Kinnerasani in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This wildlife sanctuary lies on the right bank of the Godavari River. It is also a part of the Dandakaranya forests in Khammam district. The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary is located 12-km from Paloncha, Khammam District. It extends over an area of 635.4-sq-kms The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary derives its name from the river Kinnerasani, which bisects the Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary and ultimately drains into the Godavari River.
The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary represents dry deciduous mixed type forests with teak, bamboo and terminals. Other species found here are Maddi, Yepi, Yegissa, Sommi Thandra, Bandaru, Amla, Mango, Tendu. Main attractions of The Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary are the Deer Park, Kinnerasani Dam and Reservoir with Jaladrushyam Guest house. Many perennial springs known as "Togus" flow through this sanctuary along with Kinnerasani Rallavagu.
Animals like Cheetal, Black Bucks, Chinkaras, Chousinghas, Sambhars, Wild Boars, Gaurs, Wild Dog, Hyena, Jackals, Sloth Bear, Panthers, Tigers, and a variety of bird species like Peafowl, Jungle Fowl, Qualis, Partridges, Doves, Ducks, Teals, Spoonbills, Nuktas, Open bill stork, come to nest and graze in Kinnersani lake. Reptiles like Python, Cobra, Kraite and Vipers can also be seen.
A celebration home glass guesthouse, Eco park near dam, Environmental Education Centre and Luxuriant forests along the fore shore of the Reservoir are other tourist attractions of this place.
