TIe Rakhis to Brothers as wishes, Brothers Vow To Protect Them

This is to defend them from harm and bestow good luck in the coming year. In return of these good wishes, brothers at hand their sisters with gifts. Rakhi is also the time when few people worship the Lord of the rains, Varuna.
