Located 125 kms from Goa , it is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka. with area over 834.16 sq.km
Dandeli wildlife Sanctuary
is contiguous with the Mahaveer sanctuary in Goa. The River Kali and its tributaries, Kaneri and Nagajhari, meander through the moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forests. ,the sanctuary is generally undulating with steep slopes with picturesque deep river valleys and rich hilly forest terrain.
The sanctuary is home to the elephant, gaur, tiger, panther, sambar, spotted deer, mouse deer, barking deer, sloth bear, wild boar, wild dog, mongoose, porcupine, jackal and the common langur, Crocodiles and various kinds of snakes are also found here.
Some of the common birds found in this park are the golden-backed woodpecker, crested serpent eagle, white-breasted kingfisher, grey hornbill, great pied hornbill, the Malabar pied hornbill & many more.
The Wild Population
Sloth Bear, Bush Grail, Deer, Elephant, Sambar, Tiger, Gaur, Panther and Partridge are some of the many inhabitants of the sanctuary.

The sanctuary offers wildlife safaris in jeeps nature walks, bird watching, crocodile sighting trips, fishing, coracle boat rides, trekking in the jungles of Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.
Best season to Visit
Park is closed from June to October. The best time to visit is from December to May.
Animals & Bird Sighted
Indian bison, wild dogs, barking deers, common langur, flying squirrel and macaques. If again you are lucky wolves may catch your eye and so will the elephants. A variety of birds are also inhabitanats of the reserve.
Sight crocodiles basking in the sun and flocks of beautiful waterbirds as you float down the River Kali in a coracle.
