Name of : A Cannon Weight: 55 tons This is a 55-ton cannon perched on a platform.

The head of the cannon is fashioned into the shape of a lion whose jaws are trying to devour an elephant. Legend has it that if you touch the gun and make a wish, it will come true. And as the cannon glistens in the sunlight, one is delighted to know that in 1854 AD when the grand gun was auctioned for a paltry sum of Rs. 150, the sale was thankfully cancelled.

The nearest airport is Belgaum, 205 kms away.

Bijapur is well connected by road and rail to Bangalore, Belgaum and Goa. Conducted tours as also local transport available for sightseeing in the city.
