The world famous Vrindavan gardens on the terrace of the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, near the Mysore City, across the river Cauvery is a meticulously planned garden.

It was built in 1932 during the rule of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, who was a great lover of gardens and parks. The then Dewan or Prime Minister of the Maharaja, Sir Mirza Ismail, designed the enchanting garden.

The Krishna Raja Sagar dam is one of the earliest dams built in the country in 1932 AD by the renowned engineer statesman, Sir M. Visvesharaya during the reign of Krishna Raja Wodeyar.

Just below the dam, the beautiful gardens are laid on either side of big artificial lakes named the South-North yards.

The musical fountain is of special interest that presents a spectacular harmony of water, colours and music. There are varieties of fountains illuminated at night by colourful lights.

Every evening the gardens come alive in a burst of dazzling colours and illumination when twirling and dancing fountains lend an atmosphere of enchantment to this fairyland.

It was a perquisite of every film whether Hindi or regional to have some shots of the garden, one of the most favored sites in the Indian film world. Today any kind of shooting is strictly ban, one can luxuriate in the panoramic splendor of this magnificent garden and make a day.

The main charm in the garden is its "Dancing Fountain" where fountains dance on the tunes of music and makes magnificent color patterns. The Musical fountains have spectacular harmony of water, colors and music. With the splendid play of lights and musical fountains one could feel the charm of heaven on earth.

On a travel tour to Karnataka one must definitely visit the most beautiful garden, enjoy the illuminated garden embellished with colorful soft lights along with the music played to complement the ornamental fountains. Every evening at 7.00pm, the lights in the garden are opened turning the entire vicinity into a fairy tale sequence. It just awe-inspiring to see such a majestic vista.

Visiting Time
Timings: Brindavan garden is open from 7:00am to 8:00pm every day.
On weekends the lighting are done from 7:00pm to 8:45pm.
During Dasara Festival the garden is illuminated every day.

Accessibility To The Garden
To reach actual site of Brindavan Gardens, visitors need to walk about 1.5km from the main gateway of the park. As the garden is located 15km from the center, auto rickshaws and private taxis are the most reliable and easily available mode of transport.

Boating Facilities
Boating facilities are available at the gardens.
