Upper Lake
Flows into the Kolans River, Upper Lake spreads
southeastwards up to Sehore District. Upper Lake is the oldest man-made
lake in India.
This lake is constructed across the Kolans River in Bhopal having
catchment area of 36.1 sq km.
In the 11th Century, Upper Lake was built by King Bhoj of Dhar. This
man-made lake is the major source of potable water for the people of
Bhopal. Near the lake there is an attractive royal garden called Kamla
Park. This Lake is also known as Bada Talab.
Boating facilities are available here for visitors.
