Chad Aideit Dance
Chad Aideit, a
popular dance of the Lyngngam tribe of Meghalaya, is performed in the
honor of a prominent person.
It is one of the most popular dances of the Lyngngams. It is a dance of
offering a drink by the females to the males especially when they
returned from war and honourable man. The dance was performed to
entertain them and honor them. Chad Aideit is marked by the lack of any
limit in the number of dancers. The dancers wield swords, shields and
bamboo baskets while performing this special dance. |
