134 km. The district headquarters and home of the Chakhesang (a combination of three tribes: cha of chekru khe of Khezhe and sang of Sangtam) their culture and custom is distinctly different from other Nagas. 7sukhenyie', the principal festival, is observed during March-April.
The famous rare tragopan birds are found in profusion here. One can also see a enormous many variety of beautiful Orchids.Chakhesang culture and customs are quite different from the other Naga tribes. The stones and pillars near Chesezumi village on the Chazouba road bear testimony to the existence of head-hunting among the villagers in the ancient days.

Pfutsero
It is situated at an altitude of 2,133.60 metres above sea-level. This beautiful township is the coldest town in Nagaland. Apples are grown here. It is connected with Kohima by a 70 km border road. Nagaland State Transport buses ply on this road regularly.
Khezakenoma Village
This village is believed to be the originating place of many of the southern Naga tribes from where further migrations into the wild had begun. Legends of old, speaks of a slab of stone in this village which was supposed to multiply paddy when spread over it for drying. This stone is still preserved, though the old magic no longer prevails. One can reach this village from Tabubi in Manipur or Pfutsero in Phek district.
Shilloi Lake
Also known as the Lachem Lake lies on the lower slopes of the hill ranges running along the Myanmar (Burma) border in Phek district of Nagaland.The Shilloi is about 300 Kms from Kohima and can be accessed by jeep, truck, bus etc. via Meluri.
Spread over 0.25 to 0.30 sq km, the lake has the shape of a footprint. The average depth of the lake is supposed to be 4 Metres.The Lake is believed to be abode of spirits by the local people and they have woven many eerie tales around it. Therefore, they do not use the water for drinking or irrigation.
