has a moderate temperature throughout the year. Temperature in the summer months touches a high of 35C and a low of 23C, respectively. Winter months are relatively cold with a maximum and minimum temperature of 27C and 16C, respectively. The water currents are not favourable for swimming, so swimmers need to take care.

Puri is 60-km from Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Orissa is also one of the four holiest Hindu pilgrimages in India. Since last many centuries, Puri has been the venue of millions of pilgrims, who visit this place to pay a visit to the Jagannath Temple. The abode of Lord Jagannath, Puri also boasts of an appealing beach which is thronged by Hindu pilgrims, who take a holy dip here, believed to purify there souls. Puri is also famous for the Chariot procession or Rath Yatra at Jagannatha Temple in the months of June - July. The Puri Beach festival (November 23 -27) is another delightful event for the art loving visitors and locals alike. Taking place at the beautiful beach of Puri, the Puri Beach Festival offers a music, dance and various other cultural activities giving multidimensional charms of Orissa. The Puri Beach Festival is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Department of Tourism, Government of Orissa, Development Commissioner of Handicrafts and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center, Calcutta.

Rail : Puri has direct trains from Calcutta , New Delhi , Tirupati and Ahmedabad.

Road : Puri is 60-km from Bhubaneswar by road and 35-km from Konark on Marine Drive.
