Puri is at a distance of 60 kms from the capital city of Orissa, Bhubaneshwar and is well connected through
air, rail and road networks. The nearest airport of Bhubaneshwar connects Puri with other major cities of India through frequent flights. The Puri railway station caters to the need of the rail transport. In terms of the road transport buses to and from Calcutta, Vishakhapatnum, Guwahati, Chennai et al ply to Puri.
Best Time to Visit
Puri has a moderate temperature throughout the year. Temperature in the summer months touches a high of 35°C and a low of 23°C, respectively. Winter months are relatively cold with a maximum and minimum temperature of 27°C and 16°C, respectively.
Activities on the Beach
The local fishermen, with their catamarans and wide brimmed cane hats provide you with a memorable ride on their boats. The local fishermen are also expert masseurs.
The water currents are not favourable for swimming, so swimmers need to take care.

Puri is also famous for the Chariot procession or Rath Yatra at Jagannatha Temple in the months of June - July.
