It is said that Sati, the wife of Shiva consigns herself to the
sacrificial fire when her father Daksha insulted her lord
Shiva. In sorrow, lord Shiva danced the tandava with the dead
body of Goddess Sati, until Lord Vishnu cut it into small
pieces spreading it all over the land. The spots where her body parts
landed became Shaktipeethas, admired by pilgrims even nowadays.
It is believed that Sati's eyes, or Naina landed at Nainital therefore
giving the place its name and nowadays in this place makes a temple this
is called Naina Devi Temple.

here. Seeta Bani Temple is situated about 20 kms from Ram Nagar; during
