The main source of the river Yamuna is Yamunotri glacier which is
situated at a height of 4420 m near the Kalind Mountain.
Here a sacred dip in the tank filled by hot springs, and cooking rice in
its water is part of the rituals. Yamunotri temple was destroyed
by an earthquake in 1923, but later temple was rebuilt.
