The
history of Kutch is very old. Traces of the Indus valley
civilization (3000 to 1500 B.C.) have been discovered at
Dholavira – Kutch. When Alexandra the Great reached these
parts in 325 BC Rann was not an arm of the sea.
Goa was
coveted and ruled by a great number of Indian kingdoms and
dynasties from the 4th century onwards. The first kingdom to
rule Goa and Konkan were Bhojas, who were the feudatories of
Ashoka in 4th and 5th centuries AD.
From the
time of the epic Mahabharatha the region called Vidharba is
one besides Marathwada which comprises Maharashtra today. This
region was a part of the Mauryan empire.
